Finally, this huge project is completely done. On December 20th, "Love in Bali" was captured and frozen by Platinum Duke Travel Photography in Bali. After finishing the Lijiang shoot in October, we booked another overseas session, originally planned for after the New Year, but moved up to December—a spontaneous trip. With everyone saying “you’ve all worked hard,” my partner and I could finally relax. Here, I must express my gratitude to Director Jun Sir Fan Houhe, makeup director Sister Niu Niu, Director Hong, and the hardworking staff including Xiao Li Li Chengming, Zhou Zhou, and all the others whose names I don’t know. Listening to the sounds of insects, frogs, and all kinds of nature outside, it’s now 1 a.m. Although taking photos is exhausting, I have to admit I’m so tired I could cry today. My partner actually threw up when we got back~ But I still want to record this major happy event in life—capturing the most beautiful moments with the person you love.
It was amazing, so lucky, and such a happy experience... 1. We’ve been in Bali for several days with mostly cloudy and rainy weather, but today’s shoot turned out to be under bright sunshine, so much so that I actually got sunburned. 2. The most important part of a photo shoot is the team, and we were incredibly lucky—Director Jun Sir was behind the camera, Sister Niu Niu did our styling, Director Hong handled the short film, and assistant Xiao Li paid attention to every single detail professionally. 3. We didn’t want to miss any elements we had in mind, and indeed, we didn’t miss a single one. Due to time constraints and not being able to shoot over two days, what was supposed to take two days was completed from 7 a.m. straight through to 11:30 p.m. Beaches, pools, sandy shores, cliffs, museums, underwater scenes, and more... 4. 5. 6. There’s so much more I want to write, but I’ll stop here... just let your imagination fill in the blanks, haha.
Everyone worked so hard all day, pushing to capture everything and visit more scenic spots. None of the staff had much to eat all day, and in this heat, they barely seemed to drink any water either. They performed high-difficulty shooting moves while constantly looking out for us. Let me talk about the shooting content:
As early as 7 a.m., Sister Niu Niu arrived at our accommodation with her assistant Zhou Zhou. Then came Sister Niu Niu’s makeup session. In nearly two hours, my partner and I were completely transformed. As they say, clothes make the man, and a saddle makes the horse—wedding photos especially rely on makeup. Not a single detail was overlooked, and it put us in a great mood right from the morning. Since both my partner and I are quite perfectionistic, we made some adjustments to our outfits when we got to the studio. In this regard, Sister Niu Niu, being a director-level professional, picked out outfits that suited us perfectly. Around this time, Director Jun and Director Hong showed up and, together with Sister Niu Niu, double-checked the outfit choices.
Director Jun and Director Hong weren’t as aloof as we imagined. On the contrary, they were kind and approachable, and it was very easy to get along with them. Then they started discussing the shooting details with us—a couple shooting portraits and more. Actually, the night before, Yang Zi had set up a group chat for us, where my partner and I had already shared our ideas.
Thanks to Director Jun and Director Hong’s arrangements, we were able to smoothly complete all the scene shoots today. In this scorching heat, my partner and I were already struggling, but Director Jun, Sister Niu Niu, Director Hong, assistant Xiao Li, and the rest were going all out from morning to night. They climbed cliffs, went into the ocean, endured hot ground, and got into pools and ponds. Everyone, while working diligently, also kept checking on our condition, always making sure we had water ready—“you must drink more water in this heat.” Seeing we were tired, they quickly gave us breaks, and even noticed when we were hungry and prepared little snacks for us. In the car, Sister Niu Niu even DIY’d some unique props for us from time to time. When Director Jun saw we hadn’t rested in the car, he let us take a quick look at the photos taken so far, so we could adjust styles that weren’t quite working.
Director Hong kept sharing some photography tips with us. In the end, we thought it was too late to do underwater shots, and since my partner and I can only swim at a beginner level, we even considered giving up. But Sister Niu Niu had already prepared our underwater outfits, and Director Jun and Xiao Li were all set to go in the water. The underwater scenes were stunning, but definitely challenging. My partner and I still don’t know if we’ll pull it off.
I’ll stop here for now. I’m so tired today, and we have to select photos tomorrow. I really need to sleep.
