London, September 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Co-hosted with the European Helicopter Association (EHA), Helitech International (International Helicopter Exhibition and Conference) is Europe’s largest exhibition dedicated to civil rotorcraft. The comprehensive Helitech International Education Programme will be launched alongside this year’s event..From October 6 to 8, 2015, the program will return to London’s ExCeL exhibition center.
On the first day of the Helitech International exhibition, the Business and Strategy Conference will cover a range of topics including strategy, market insights, trends, and thought leadership. The morning session’s Rotorcraft Business Leaders Forum will discuss key business and strategic issues facing the rotorcraft industry over the next five to ten years. Other highlights of the afternoon include two new “Focus” sessions—these will explore emerging opportunities in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and offshore wind farms.
The European Helicopter Association will host a series of highly worthwhile educational sessions on the second day, focusing on legislative changes in the rotorcraft industry. On the final day of the Helitech International exhibition, the European Helicopter Safety Team (EHEST) and the International Helicopter Safety Team (IHST) will conduct a Safety Workshop, which will emphasize the critical importance of safety in rotary-wing aircraft operations and focus on relevant technologies and processes aimed at “enhancing situational awareness and making better decisions.” Distinguished experts from both industry and academia will participate in the discussions.
A highlight of the Safety Workshop will be a keynote speech by Captain Eric Melrose Brown (also known as “Winkle”). Captain Brown, a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), Distinguished Service Cross (DSC), Air Force Cross (AFC) recipient, Honorary Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (Hon FRAeS), former Royal NavyRoyal Navyofficer, and test pilot, holds the record for having flown more types of aircraft than anyone else in history..He has flown 487 different types of aircraft and is the most decorated living pilot in the British Fleet Air Arm. Captain Brown will share his insights and remarkable experience on the importance of thorough preparation before flying.
Captain Brown said: “Safety is always paramount, and we must remember that helicopters are different from other types of aircraft..Whether flying fixed-wing aircraft, rotorcraft, or even hot air balloons, pilots must always maintain the same level of caution. The Safety Workshop’s slogan—‘enhancing situational awareness and making better decisions’—succinctly captures the key considerations for helicopter pilots. This workshop will offer important discussions that delegates won’t want to miss, and I look forward to a truly engaging discussion at the Helitech International event.”
