The Nine Tribes Cultural Village, the largest cherry blossom viewing spot in central Taiwan, features up to 5,000 cherry trees that bloom successively starting from late January. The 2018 Nine Tribes Cherry Blossom Festival runs from February 1 to April 15. In addition to vast cherry blossom gardens and the best night cherry blossom views in Taiwan, it also pairs with the transparent crystal cable car launched at Sun Moon Lake at the start of the year, offering breathtaking aerial views of the blossoms.

During the Nine Tribes Cherry Blossom Festival, events such as picnic days and cherry blossom markets are held. Visitors can ride a hand-pulled rickshaw from Asakusa, Japan, and dress up in traditional yukata to enjoy the scenery along the way, as if traveling back in time to Japan’s Edo period. There is also a free photography workshop teaching visitors how to take great cherry blossom photos on their first try. Additionally, nighttime viewing hours begin on February 10, with the Cherry Blossom Lake illuminated to create a stunning and romantic scene, making it Taiwan’s premier night cherry blossom destination.

Since the launch of the transparent crystal cable car at Sun Moon Lake at the start of the year, it has become a big hit with visitors. The Nine Tribes Cultural Village has also introduced a special package exclusively for residents of central Taiwan, with discounted tickets priced at NT$650 (original price NT$850). This not only allows access to amusement park rides but also includes indigenous performances and a ride on the Sun Moon Lake cable car. Residents of Yunlin, Taichung, Changhua, Nantou, and Miaoli can present their ID cards upon entry to enjoy the special ticket price of NT$650 and receive an additional NT$100 voucher.
