Every Lunar New Year celebration is highlighted by the lantern festival, and the Tainan Yancheng Yuejin Harbor Lantern Festival kicks off in early February. Themed “A Date,” it invites contemporary artists from both domestic and international backgrounds in technology and new media art to participate, presenting their works through light installations that blend the local culture and scenery of Tainan’s Yancheng District. The Cultural Affairs Bureau has released a promotional video that, for the first time, connects the event with the Yanshui Beehive Rockets, starting from Yanshui Wu Temple and illuminating the Yuejin Harbor Lantern Festival.

All the artworks featured in this year’s exhibition are site-specific installations created by the artists, showcasing rich and vibrant expressions in both daylight and nighttime. They explore the intersection of nature, history, civilization, human relationships, and time and space, using the romance of light to evoke people’s dedication to promises.
