A new international architectural landmark in Taiwan: The pure white m8 Court space designed by Kengo Kuma

Taiwan’s international architectural design scene welcomes another masterpiece with the grand opening of “m8 Court” at the Kinmen Wind Lion God Shopping Center. This approximately 300-ping exhibition space was designed by internationally renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, who employed natural building materials and created a concept inspired by light. Blending color, lighting, and spatial elements, it forms a new landmark where light and shadow intertwine with architecture.

The name “m8 Court” originates from the use of transparent nylon ropes woven into organic partitions indoors, with light projection forming light walls. This breaks away from the traditional white-box walls of exhibition spaces, dividing the area into multifunctional zones including exhibition spaces, meeting rooms, reception counters, a light meal area, and a bar area.

The outdoor space features large glass windows offering an unobstructed view of the surroundings. The outdoor terrace area showcases irregular wooden lines that exude a Japanese and Eastern Zen aesthetic, combining water, light, and air to create a warm and traditional architectural ambiance.

Following its win of the National Architecture Gold Award, the Wind Lion God Shopping Center once again presents a new cultural landmark with international-quality lifestyle appeal.
