Minor aftershocks have never ceased, with over 180 recorded so far. There have been 26 felt earthquakes with a magnitude of 4 or higher since the main quake on the evening of the 6th.Multiple consecutive nights have seen felt earthquakes with a magnitude of 5 or above. The intensity reached level 4 in Hualien and Nantou, level 3 in Yunlin, and even level 2 in the Taipei metropolitan area.

The weather bureau warns that aftershocks may continue for the next 2 to 3 weeks. When going out, be mindful of falling objects, landslides, and fragile items, and avoid mountainous areas. With recent low temperatures, also take care to stay warm. In addition to the subduction of the Philippine Plate and the compression of the Eurasian Plate, the triggering of the Meishan Fault could potentially lead to another sizable earthquake. Continued vigilance is needed, especially for residents in the Hualien area to prepare for seismic activity.
