Nightlife has always been part of urban living, and with more and more restaurants staying open until the early hours, it's gradually changing our lifestyles. Recently, in a lane near the intersection of the Zuoying High-Speed Rail Station and the opposite side of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, a new BBQ shop opened. What caught our attention about this BBQ spot was its use of ten shipping containers to create a space with a light industrial design.

Having visited so many restaurants, Shadow had never come across a BBQ joint made from shipping containers. The design here left us amazed. The arrangement of the containers was personally planned and designed by the owner, who then worked with craftsmen to bring it to life. The space is divided between the first and second floors.

On the first floor, in addition to the kitchen and bar counter, there’s also an electronic dart zone, which is free for diners to use. From the iron plate underfoot to the cable spools used as tables, everything reflects the shop’s interpretation of the industrial aesthetic.

The second floor features a hollowed-out design in the center with glass installed on the top, mimicking the courtyard of an old house—on a clear night, you might even catch a glimpse of the moonlight. Safety measures include added iron railings and fine mesh, but it’s still safer not to lean against them.

Due to the size of the containers, most spaces on the second floor are long and narrow, and seats facing different directions offer varying styles—this is part of what makes the container setup so interesting.

The menu mainly focuses on BBQ, with not many rice dishes. The owners hope to add more diverse cuisine options in the future.

No BBQ is complete without beer and drinks. If you’re driving, it’s best to stick with carbonated beverages.

At first, we thought this drink was barley tea, but it turned out to be roselle tea—lightly tangy, smooth, and quite tasty, a nice little touch from the shop.

The store’s complimentary passion fruit snack is pickled by the owner’s family elders—its flavor is excellent, neither too sour nor too sweet, with a nostalgic taste.

The table is set with seasoning bottles including seven-spice powder, salt and pepper, and whole peppercorns. The salt and pepper mix is specially selected by the shop and works wonderfully with grilled items.

Mackerel Dry-Aged Overnight – NT$160

Originally a preservation method used by Hokkaido fishermen in Japan, dry-aged overnight fish is now commonly found in Japanese-style BBQ joints. Different fish yield unique flavors—for instance, the mackerel we tried had modest fat content but extremely fresh and delicious meat, making it great as a drinking snack.

Sake Clams – NT$120

The clams used by the shop are the larger variety, which may be why there weren’t many of them—leaving us wanting more.

Soy-Braised King Oyster Mushrooms – NT$50

These thick, chewy mushrooms have little inherent flavor and rely on the sauce for taste. Unfortunately, the sauce was a bit light.

Salted Q Shrimp – NT$150

The dish arrived fragrant, and while peeling the shrimp, you can tell they’re very fresh—the meat is bouncy, plump, and delicious.

Grilled Fish Collar – NT$240

The collar meat is quite thick, lightly oily, and when drizzled with lemon juice, offers a refreshing citrus aroma—another great drinking pairing.

Cheese Chicken Thigh Steak – NT$90

The cheese used here isn’t overly milky, which is why Shadow dared to try this kind of cheese dish. The chicken thigh steak is tender in texture but lacks distinct flavor—best enjoyed with a sprinkle of salt and pepper.

Mentaiko Chicken Wings – NT$90

The shop thoughtfully removes the bones before stuffing the wings with mentaiko, and without overdoing it on the sauce, you get to enjoy the pure flavor.

Pork Jowl – NT$90

The pork belly slices grilled to a golden brown on both sides pair perfectly with a sprinkle of salt and pepper, along with some shredded onions. The refreshing flavor makes it an excellent drinking dish.

Cheese Q Shiitake Mushrooms 60 NTD / 2 pieces

Extra-thick shiitake mushrooms topped with generous amounts of cheese. I was worried about that unpleasant milky taste, but it wasn’t there at all. The mushrooms are juicy with plenty of moisture.

Green Onion Pork Roll 50 NTD (left), Tomato Pork Roll 50 NTD (right)

At first glance, the pork rolls may seem similar, but they actually come in two flavors—one wrapped with green onions, adding a fragrant onion aroma, and the other with tomatoes inside, bringing a refreshing natural acidity that surprisingly complements the pork.

Lettuce Salad 90 NTD

The lettuce salad could be improved by offering a wider variety of vegetables and a bit more sesame dressing—it would be even better visually and in taste.

Handmade Tempura 90 NTD

Currently, just take a photo and check in, and your table gets one free. The tempura is made from fish paste, unlike regular fish cake slices. It has a sweet and fresh taste with a soft, tender texture—really delicious.

Summer Honey Apple Cider 80 NTD (left), Carlsberg 500ml Draft Beer 120 NTD (right)

This is an apple cider I’ve never tried before—the alcohol content is 4.5%, and it tastes like apple soda with bubbles and a sweet flavor. It doesn’t feel like you’re drinking beer at all, making it great for women. The Carlsberg draft comes from Denmark in Northern Europe, with 5% alcohol content. My husband said it’s very smooth and easy to drink. (Excessive drinking is harmful to health.)

There’s a parking lot in front of the shop, so parking is very convenient.

Most of the grilled items here are served with their original flavors, using very little sauce. It depends on whether you like this style of grilling. Dining in a shipping container is indeed a unique experience. Since there aren’t many main dish options, it’s more suitable for a group of friends to come here for a late-night chat and snacks. Plus, the parking is convenient, making it a great spot for a men’s gathering.
