Nitecore | Committed to Professional Innovation, Leading Mobile Lighting
From January 16 to 19, 2019, the 15th ISPO Beijing (International Sporting Goods Fair) was held at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. NEXNITECORE, as a renowned professional mobile lighting brand, showcased numerous award-winning products at the exhibition, attracting many professional guests and drawing large crowds with lively discussions and negotiations.

Founded in 1998, Nitecore gradually grew from foreign trade business thanks to two key opportunities: one was the Canton Fair, and the other was the export business of Yangjiang City. Yangjiang is the world’s largest knife-exporting base, accounting for nearly 80% of global knife exports. Leveraging these opportunities, Nitecore initially undertook OEM knife manufacturing for core clients such as CIKT and SOG in the U.S. In 2003, Nitecore began preparing to enter the mobile lighting market, which was still a blank category in the domestic market at the time. With the development of LED technology, by 2015, Nitecore had become one of the few companies in China focusing on mid-to-high-end mobile lighting. Over the past 15 years, Nitecore has been dedicated to promoting professional mobile lighting globally, designing and developing lighting products for professionals. In the professional outdoor field, Nitecore has cultivated a strong reputation and product recognition over 15 years. It currently holds a dominant position in the domestic military and police markets, and globally, Nitecore is a founding member of the International Association of Mobile Lighting and a voting member involved in setting industry standards.

Mobile lighting remains a niche industry compared to outdoor activities. However, with over a decade of technical accumulation, Nitecore has won the German Red Dot Design Award for three consecutive years since 2016. As a representative of the industry, Nitecore’s technical prowess has gained widespread recognition, also demonstrating that Chinese design is acknowledged worldwide. Starting in 2005, Nitecore positioned itself around research and development innovation, product innovation, and marketing innovation—and will continue to focus on these areas going forward.
Honing internal capabilities and improving quality are key
To truly excel in mobile lighting and brand products, more effort must be rooted internally—honing internal capabilities is the driving force behind Nitecore’s product development. In the mobile lighting category, Nitecore has evolved from the earliest bulb stage, to the xenon bulb phase with higher efficiency and luminous output, to the high-power LED developments around 2003–2004. Nitecore’s growth has always gone hand-in-hand with several core technologies. Since 2014, LED technology has reached a certain stage; increasing brightness from 1,000 to 2,000 or even 3,000 lumens has become more challenging, and battery technology has not seen major core changes in the past decade. Brightness is visible to the eye, and battery life is perceptible, but internal capabilities are what companies and brands need to cultivate and accumulate.

For Nitecore, the quality of lighting products first manifests in the internal heat dissipation structure. After one or two years of use, the product can still maintain consistency and stability—a craft that Nitecore continuously researches and improves. At the same time, Nitecore is committed to fostering interaction between the lighting product and the user. Since 2015, Nitecore established a “Bean” group, bringing together frontline users, experts, designers, and product managers to collectively discuss product application scenarios and better usage methods. For example, the TA30, which won the German Red Dot Design Award, is a product of the “Bean” group. Designed for special police and tactical use, the TA30 features a tail button that can be pressed to instantly light up whenever needed. In tense situations, users can quickly activate the strobe function. In non-tense moments, a side toggle switch allows switching to a low-light mode for checking IDs or reading, along with a brightness boost setting that can achieve up to 1,100 lumens for long-range illumination. Through these human-machine interaction features, Nitecore truly highlights the product’s professional attributes. It has also become a best-selling item for Nitecore over the past three years.

Multi-brand Joint Operations, Presenting Diverse Product Categories
At the corporate level, Nitecore ensures that the unique quality of “Nite+” is reflected across all product lines, whether flashlights, knives, or tools, all striving for this level of excellence, aiming to deliver the best designs and professional attitudes to various user groups. As a single-category brand, Nitecore’s future product positioning will remain unchanged, but as a corporate brand, Nitecore positions itself as a one-stop premium equipment supplier. For different categories, Nitecore uses distinct brand names to distinguish them. TORCH, which means flashlight or sacred flame in English, with NEXTORCH signifying the flashlight of the future, clearly indicates this brand’s exclusive focus on the mobile lighting category. For tool products, Nitecore owns the NEXTOOL brand, where TOOL means tools, so NEXTOOL represents the future of tools. Other categories, such as knives, are branded under different sub-brands. Through this multi-brand joint operation strategy, Nitecore presents a variety of product categories.

Cross-industry Collaboration to Break Boundaries and Achieve New Growth
Nitecore places great emphasis on cross-industry collaboration and integration. In 2015, Nitecore founded and joined the SOA Outdoor Selection organization, and became a founding member of COA in 2017. Through continuous cross-industry exchanges and collaborations, Nitecore secured a dedicated exhibition area within SOA and expanded overseas to participate in European outdoor exhibitions. On international e-commerce platforms, Nitecore also partnered with AliExpress through Alibaba. Going forward, Nitecore will explore more cross-industry projects, such as the “First Hundred Challenge” project with UTO, which will experiment with community operations and integrated platform content. It will also collaborate with other brands, including EquipmentCool, to combine online and offline initiatives.
From a brand operation perspective, Nitecore’s strategy is omni-channel marketing. In addition to retaining traditional marketing methods like SEO and SEM for community engagement, Nitecore is also exploring and researching new retail and smart retail solutions. The biggest shift here is the integration and connection between online and offline channels, forming a closed loop. For instance, how to direct traffic from Nitecore-sponsored events to its Tmall store. By maintaining dedicated care for its core fan base, Nitecore collects product feedback while encouraging early purchases of new items. These early adopters can also engage in community sharing, facilitating conversion from online to offline. Nitecore is also experimenting with newer platforms like Douyin (TikTok) and Zhihu to deliver fresh and engaging content, breaking traditional boundaries and discovering new growth opportunities.

Nitecore will continue to focus on the mobile lighting category in the future and refine its user targeting with greater precision, offering more professional products for professionals. Whether in terms of product design, user interaction, brand visual identity, or marketing materials, Nitecore will consistently enhance its professional attributes, striving to become a true representative of China’s industry, stepping onto the global stage, and earning worldwide respect.
