The waiting platforms at Banqiao Bus Terminal in New Taipei City were renovated starting May 2015 to ensure bus entry safety and protect passengers from sun and rain. The project aimed to improve the existing waiting environment and provide a more comfortable space for commuters.The bus station has been completely transformed, with nighttime lighting in four different colors, earning it the nickname"glowing caterpillar"and making it a new highlight of Banqiao.

The original bus terminal shelters featured dull gray tones and a monotonous design. The renovated platforms now use brighter colors, with streamlined side coverings and circular windows on the side panels, creating a more lively and vibrant overall environment—like acaterpillar shedding its dull exterior to become a dazzling butterfly, radiating brilliant light at night.Additionally, accessibility improvements include reorienting the wheelchair ramps for easier use by those with mobility challenges. The goal of the overall renovation is to combine aesthetics and practicality, offering commuters a more comfortable waiting experience at the Banqiao Bus Terminal in New Taipei City.
