Rivaling the Qingjing Skywalk, this stunning forest aerial walkway feels like a fairyland

Aside from the recently famous Qingjing Landscape Skywalk, Nantou also hides a forest skywalk within the Xitou Nature Education Area in Lugu Township. Walking on it offers panoramic views of the treetop canopy, making you feel as if you're above the clouds, with a view of the forest valley floor below.

The Xitou Aerial Corridor stretches approximately 220 meters, with its highest point reaching 22.6 meters above the ground — equivalent to a seven-story building. Along the way, you can admire precious tree species such as Taiwan red cypress, ginkgo, and Hinoki cypress, offering different scenery throughout the four seasons.

The Xitou Forest Recreation Area sits at an altitude of 1,150 meters, covering an area of about 2,500 hectares, and is part of the NTU Experimental Forest. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, the area enjoys a cool climate and features bamboo groves that resemble a fairyland. Major attractions include University Pond, Ginkgo Forest, Youth Activity Center, Bamboo Lodge, Xitou Sacred Tree, Moso Bamboo Forest, and Taiwan Red Cypress Forest.

University Pond is the most renowned spot in the area. An arched bridge spans the emerald waters, which shimmer like a mirror, reflecting the surrounding mountain and water scenery in vivid, poetic hues.
