Yilan is home to many homestays with exotic charm, ranging from European-style castles and manors to a Nanyang-style wooden cabin homestay located in Dongshan Township. From afar, it looks like a rainbow building seemingly floating above the fields – a dreamy escape far from the hustle and bustle.

The Yilan Kite Wooden Cabin is situated near the Dongshan Water Park on a piece of wetland covering 6,600 pyeong. Each cabin features an attic design, and the wooden structure fills the interior with a cozy atmosphere. Outside, there are lotus ponds aplenty, along with pools, fields, and a row of stilted wooden cabins, creating the illusion of being in a Southeast Asian country.

The homestay’s sharply triangular green-tiled colorful wooden cabins are scattered across the fields, resembling kites ready to take off. Inside, there are no beam structures; instead, the cleverly designed inverted-V roofs support the small attics. The homestay offers three types of cabins: standalone water cabins, connected land cabins, and elevated linked cabins.
