Every summer, the breathtaking hot air balloon carnival in Taitung attracts many visitors, but now you can experience a hot air balloon in Taichung too. The hot air balloon event at Dali Art Plaza in the Taichung Software Park runs from January 26 to 27, and February 5 to 10 (Chinese New Year’s Day to the fifth day). That’s a total of 8 days.

During the event period, spend NT$500 or more at any store in the park to receive an "Art Master Player Discount Package." In addition to experiences such as hot air balloon basket photos and stepping into a hot air balloon, it also includes tickets to the Shining Paris Centennial Classic Pearl Exhibition, Taiwan's Top Craft Special Exhibition, the Yayoi Kusama Documentary Film, and discount coupons for shops and activities throughout the area.
The hot air balloon experience takes place at Donghu Park, right next to Dali Art Plaza in the Taichung Software Park.
If you want to experience a hot air balloon for free at Donghu Park, you can also join the Dali Art Plaza check-in activity. Take your phone and snap photos at the 6 human-shaped cutout photo spots, and you’ll get a free “Art Master Player Discount Package” that includes a hot air balloon experience voucher and other coupons.
Stepping into a hot air balloon is not only great for photos, but also perfect for family fun with kids.
There are two hot air balloons in the park. Aside from launch performances and lift-off shows, none of the hot air balloon photo sessions involve actual flying. One balloon is ignited and stands upright, allowing people to take photos inside the basket to simulate the feeling of being in the air. The other is laid out on the ground and inflated, letting you step inside to feel the spacious interior and the power of the strong blowing wind.
