Autumn has arrived, marking the peak season for plump, delicious crabs. In addition to the year-round Fishermen’s Market at Wanli Guikou Fishing Port and the Shimen Fugi Fish Market, New Taipei City hosts a Holiday Live Crab Market on weekends from September to November at Yehliu Fishing Port, where you can personally select freshly landed crabs and even watch the process of fishing boats unloading their catch—ensuring unparalleled freshness.

For selected live crabs, you can use the on-site steaming service, enjoy them on the spot, or take them home in a package without compromising freshness. (Photo / Crab Express)

Local fishermen from Wanli sell their own catch of Wanli crabs and seasonal fresh seafood. Aside from direct harbor deliveries, you can also learn crab-picking and cooking tips from the fishermen's wives.

Don’t worry about how to handle your selected live crabs—use the on-site steaming service to learn traditional fishing family cooking methods, sealing in the freshest flavors of the sea on the spot. You can enjoy them right there, take them home conveniently, and still enjoy full freshness.

Steamed Wanli crabs are incredibly sweet and delicious, even without any dipping sauce.

Wanli crabs are wild-caught sea crabs (flower crabs, three-spot crabs, and stone crabs) from the Wanli area, marketed under the regional name “Wanli Crab.” As a natural wild species, the largest production area for Wanli crabs in Taiwan is located in the northwest fishing grounds. Wanli fishermen only select live crabs of sufficient size, tie them with green ropes, and store them in seawater tanks beneath their boats to ensure that from ocean to table, every crab remains lively and fresh.
