Taiwanese cultural and creative café – Refreshing, tender, and appetizing English-style crispy toast

Taichung West District Food: Right Café X 对了 出发

I found out about this place, 《Right Café X 对了 出发》, through Rose. The next day, since I was taking Little Cherry to the hospital for her vaccinations, we had lunch here. My experience that day – both the food and the ambiance – was absolutely delightful.

However, the little one had just gotten her shots and was a bit fussy that day, so I didn’t take many photos. Also, I was afraid the café staff would find out I was that “mom on the verge of a breakdown” that day, so I didn’t write about it... XD

Then, recently, I actually got an invitation from the café – I was both surprised and thrilled, so I immediately said yes and invited a few friends to go check it out together. (So happy, so happy, so happy…)

《Right Café X 对了 出发》 is located in a lane on Wuxi West 4th Street in the Guomei Museum commercial area. The shop next door to the next door is 《Bart 2nd Branch》… The display window outside changes its illustrations according to the season. It’s currently summer, so the swimsuits and bikinis are super thematic.

So – originally, Rose only told me that 《Right Café X 对了 出发》 was next to 《Bart 2nd Branch》, so I literally walked into the next door… and I even cautiously asked the receptionist, “Is this place suitable for kids? Do you have high chairs?” The receptionist answered, “Such a small child? Well, it’s okay, but mommy will have to hold her while sitting!” Hold her while sitting? Hold her while sitting? Hold her while sitting? Then how am I supposed to eat??? Later – later – later – later I found out that the place next door wasn’t a café, but a hair salon!! (I really wanted to die on the spot at that moment!)

《Right Café X 对了 出发》 was originally a design company that also produced its own cultural and creative merchandise. It wasn’t until the end of last year that they converted the first floor into a café.

As soon as you walk into the courtyard, you’ll definitely fall in love with the space – it’s so fresh, cute, and warm. Look – even the potted plants have illustrations painted on them.

The indoor space isn’t very big. On both of my visits, there were about 80–90% full with guests, and people kept coming and going without a break… The owner also mentioned that many of their customers are independent travelers from Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia. Most of them were drawn in by the lovely exterior while strolling through the Green Corridor lanes.

This faucet is super cute – there's even a little cloud on top of it. There’s a quote written on it that’s quite thought-provoking: “When people feel uneasy, they unconsciously push others away.” So then, next time I feel uneasy, I should… (the rest isn’t in the photo!)<")

There are a lot of cute little items displayed on the counter. I love these colorful hues that make the whole space feel lively.

There are also some stationery and other goods with a strong vintage vibe. Especially the green tote bag in the bottom photo – it’s something you’d only see back in my grandmother’s era.

During our chat, the owner mentioned they have two kids, so when we saw the two paintings on the wall, we couldn’t help but wonder if they were portraits of the owner’s two daughters.

In addition to the merchandise, they also sell ear-hook bags. Each package has a different illustration, and each one looks super kawaii.

《Right Café X 对了 出发》 uses many ingredients from small farms in Houpi Township, Tainan. While running their business, they’re also giving back to the land.

This rabbit is also adorable, sitting by the window and gazing outside, exuding a sense of anticipation.

This handmade booklet came in second place in a competition in Houpi, Tainan. Previously, it was only available at Eslite Bookstore, but now you can buy it at the café too.

Here’s the new menu. The new dishes launched in July… The menu at 《Right Café X 对了 出发》 is probably the cutest I’ve ever seen. Even the dishes are presented in doodle style. Someone with a weak brain like me can’t help but want to order just by looking at these adorable food illustrations.

I remember the old menu had a page that recommended dishes for each zodiac sign. Then during our chat that day, we found out that the owner, my friend, and I all share the Capricorn zodiac sign. Lately, I’ve been running into a lot of Capricorns. To some people, Capricorns might not seem easy to open up, but once they trust you, they’ll wholeheartedly follow you.

Kyoto Cherry Duck Burger Meal - $220 NTD

The meal set also comes with salad and chips… and all the following meals include a drink, with a total of 6 options: Hot Americano / Iced Cold Brew / Hot Black Tea / Iced Black Tea / Blue Stitch / Red Mickey

I thought the salad was great – sprinkled with some cheese powder, it had a fresh and crisp taste, letting you enjoy the pure flavor of the ingredients… The burger bun was soft and tender with a slight chew, and the cherry duck inside had been marinated, paired with balsamic vinegar and served with lettuce. The flavors were rich yet refreshing.

English Crispy Toast - $268 NTD

This dish also looked great, served with Yumei Tian vegetables, yams from Yunlin, and seasonal fruits.

For the sake of taking a photo, I lifted up a piece of toast, making the side look like terraced fields. My friend actually thought that’s how it’s supposed to look and complimented how well it was made. Though if the egg yolk had been a bit less cooked, so it could flow out nicely, I’m sure it would’ve driven us even crazier. Visually rich, but actually refreshing to eat. The bread is soft and tender, with layered textures. It’s probably very appetite-stimulating in the summer.

Fragrant Banana Peanut Bacon Burger - $185 NTD

Each dish comes with a generous portion of salad to add fiber—I love that. They use potato chips instead of fries, which reduces greasiness and heaviness, making it more refreshing and healthier...

It uses Yunlin Maryhan peanut butter paired with fresh bananas, bacon, and lettuce. The taste is sweet-salty-sweet-salty with a fragrant aroma... The bread is crispy on the outside and soft inside. The texture is great, but personally, I think it would be perfect if there were just a bit more peanut butter.

Taiwan has Mille - $288 NTD

The name of this dish likely comes from the concept of "No Rice, No Worries." There are three main options: salmon wild mushroom pesto, Bologna sausage, and taro vegetable... The presentation looks not only abundant but also colorful. This was actually my first choice when I came here.

The white rice is drizzled with the store’s homemade Chinese toon sauce, a favorite among vegetarians. Sister Xuan makes this herself—it tastes great whether poured over noodles or rice.

Break open the decadent poached egg, and underneath is a base of Bologna sausage, topped with onions, carrots, and broccoli. This pairs really well with the rice and is super savory.

Banana Wendy Pie - $150 NTD

The crust is crispy, the middle is fresh banana, and the top is cream and coffee powder, giving off a tiramisu-like vibe. I’m not usually a fan of banana pie, but this one is genuinely delicious—refreshing without being overly sweet. My friends loved it too.

Dorothy Cheese - $128 NTD

It’s blueberry-flavored, sweet and tangy, with a smooth and pleasant texture.

Shizuoka Mini Dango Cake 

This is a matcha chiffon cake, which I ordered during my first visit because it was so good—I had to share it. Only later, while writing this post, did I find out it’s been discontinued. Such a shame, what a shame...

Taiwan Houpi Brown Sugar Coffee - $150 NTD

For this coffee, no stirring is needed—just drink from the rim of the cup. The brown sugar aroma is natural, and the coffee is rich and mellow.

Black Tea Latte - $120 NTD

This one is cold. Perfect for summer, with a refreshing taste.

Red Mickey / Blue Stitch 

These two drinks come with the set—they’re flavored sparkling beverages, ice-cold and refreshing.

"Right Café X 对了 出发" truly impresses with both its food and atmosphere, using many local Taiwanese ingredients—it’s such a thoughtful and quality-driven café. The dishes follow a light meal concept, with minimal cooking, making them healthy and guilt-free. Plus, you can buy some cute cultural and creative souvenirs to take home. I hadn’t been to the Art Museum area in ages. It wasn’t crowded on the weekend, and I enjoyed strolling leisurely along the Green Path. So peaceful and happy.
