Nine-course meal for NT$10,000? The world’s first 3D-printed restaurant is coming to Taipei

As globalization brings people together, food becomes more diverse and mutually influential — even technology is quietly entering the kitchen. Modern chefs not only cook, but also use various resources to create unique and unforgettable meals.According to the Lonely Planet website, the world’s first 3D-printed restaurant opened in London in July and will soon begin a global tour, with Taipei as one of its stops. We’ll have the chance to try out the flavors when it arrives!

The conceptual dinner offered by Food Ink combines food, technology, and art. The nine-course meal was conceived by an international team of chefs and artists, and 3D printing technology will be demonstrated right at diners’ tables.

So how much does such a meal cost? Not cheap — £250, nearly NT$10,000 — but it’s definitely a one-of-a-kind experience. The London opening ran from July 25–27, after which it will go on a global tour, visiting cities including Berlin, Dubai, Seoul, Rome, Tel Aviv, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, Toronto, New York,Taipei, Las Vegas, São Paulo, Tokyo, Austin (USA), Singapore, Los Angeles, Cape Town, Sydney, and Reykjavik.
