The Japan Tourism Agency introduced the “Hokkaido Fukkou Wari” (Hokkaido Recovery Discount) travel subsidy plan. For international visitors, 70% of the accommodation cost per night is subsidized, with a maximum subsidy amount of 20,000 Japanese yen (approximately NT$5,400) per night, and up to 5 nights eligible. This offer went on sale starting October 1st. Japan’s four major hotel booking websites—Rakuten Travel, Rurubu Travel, Jalan, and Yahoo Travel—have all launched five types of coupon options with values ranging from the minimum of 3,000, 6,000, 9,000, and 12,000 Japanese yen up to a maximum of 20,000 Japanese yen. Travelers must first be members of the respective booking website, log in to snap up the coupons, and then use them to book through that platform.
To benefit those who missed out on the first round of subsidies, EVA Air Travel released the second round of a total of 200 subsidy spots on its official website at 12:00 PM on December 6. It has also simultaneously added subsidies for group tours to Hokkaido departing between March and April. Travelers planning to visit Japan should seize the opportunity.
