60% of travelers hope for overseas encounters — Tokyo crowned the “easiest place to have a romantic fling”

An online survey conducted by a travel service provider explored the travel and dating attitudes of Taiwanese men and women aged 20–40. Based on a sample of over a thousand respondents, nearly 60% of locals have fantasized about a romantic encounter abroad, yet only around 20% have actually experienced one. Among those who have had real-life romantic encounters, the top five cities deemed easiest for such experiences are Tokyo, Paris, New York, Osaka, and Hong Kong.

According to results published by Expedia, nearly 60% of locals have hoped for the chance of a romantic encounter, with men expressing this desire more than women by over 10%. Over 60% also said that if they met someone they liked, they would take the initiative to flirt or exchange contact information—but in reality, only about 20% have had such an encounter. The zodiac signs most likely to experience a romantic fling areVirgo, Sagittarius, and Cancer; whereas Scorpio is the sign least likely to have such an experience.

The survey also analyzed interaction methods and subsequent relationships, but ultimately found that only 2.7% of those romantic encounters among the younger generation led to true love and eventually marriage.
