Japan’s largest tonkatsu specialty chain, “Yoshokuya,” opened its third branch on the 22nd in the Eslite Xinyi Mall food street. Targeting the bustling crowd of the Xinyi business district and the commercial area around Taipei City Hall MRT Station, the store emphasizes perfectly proportioned sauces flown in from Japan and an exclusively developed fully automatic tonkatsu fryer. On its first day, it sold over a thousand bowls of its popular menu item.

Unlike the other two branches, the third branch is located in a food street. In addition to in-store seating, customers can also use the public seating area, eliminating the need to wait in long lines while standing. This has significantly increased the number of diners, and the store achieved the impressive feat of selling over a thousand bowls on its opening day. Among the bestsellers was the highly cost-effective “Pork Loin Cutlet Set Meal,” a favorite among office workers. The meal comes with a miso soup made with miso imported directly from Japan and six types of fresh ingredients, paired with crispy, tender pork cutlets—allowing customers in Taiwan to enjoy this Japanese national dish at an affordable price.
