Yesterday, the news “20-year-old female college student misses train stop, takes tricycle and is robbed and killed by driver” sparked widespread attention on Weibo. According to reports, Wang Moulin, a girl from Jiangxi, missed her stop while taking a train home and was taken by a “tricycle driver” to a remote location where she was robbed and killed. Not long ago, the case of Hu Yixuan, a girl from Heilongjiang, who was sent home by a pregnant woman and then met a tragic end, also triggered heated discussion online. In response, @People's Daily posted multiple Weibo messages yesterday reminding girls to stay vigilant when traveling alone, and many netizens reposted and commented.

Micro Incident

On the morning of August 18, the Nanchang County Public Security Bureau held a press conference regarding the disappearance of a girl in Xiangtang. According to the police, Wang Moulin, who went missing at Xiangtang Railway Station in the early hours of August 15, had been killed. The suspect, Li Moumou, was arrested, and the victim’s body was found.

Preliminary investigations revealed that at around 4:40 a.m. on August 15, the victim, Wang Moulin, took a train from Foshan, Guangdong, arrived at Xiangtang Railway Station, and then took a “tricycle” (modified from a three-wheeled motorcycle) driven by the suspect, Li Moumou. Li drove the tricycle to a remote, deserted area, killed Wang, and robbed her of her belongings. The suspect, Li Moumou, has been criminally detained. The case is still under further investigation.

Micro Reminder

What all girls should pay attention to: This tragic incident reminds girls to stay vigilant when traveling alone — do not go to designated places with strangers, avoid unlicensed taxis, refrain from sharing rides with strangers, choose the side near the elevator buttons when riding elevators... Girls are inherently vulnerable; for the sake of the women around you, spread the word ! @People's Daily

How females can escape danger: ① If robbed: Your life comes first — throw your money and belongings aside and run in the opposite direction; ② If there’s a home invasion robbery: Lock yourself in your room, find something to defend yourself with, and call the police immediately; ③ If kidnapped: Keep the perpetrator off guard while talking, and look for sharp objects to cut your restraints; ④ If you’re being followed: Don’t go straight back to your residence, take a taxi to a busy public place, or ask a passerby to accompany you. @People's Daily

Female Safety “Ten Don’ts”: ① Don’t go to specified places with strangers; ② Don’t go out alone at night; ③ If you must go out, don’t take shortcuts through dark alleys; ④ Try not to use stairwells at night; ⑤ Don’t open the door impulsively if you hear noises outside; ⑥ Don’t reveal all your personal information to strangers; ⑦ Don’t take unlicensed taxis; ⑧ Don’t share rides with strangers; ⑨ Don’t be attached to material possessions; ⑩ Don’t lose your judgment in a crisis. @People's Daily

Princess XiXi: When taking rarely scheduled buses in remote areas, try to board early and sit in the seat next to the driver. Before taking a taxi or shared ride, remember the license plate number. Once inside, call a friend in front of the driver and tell them the license plate and other details.

Early Autumn Cool: Solo female travelers should try to avoid going out at night. Pay extra attention to the safety of your belongings and documents in public places. It’s always better to be cautious.
