Ever felt tired and hungry after a full day of shopping in Shinsaibashi, wanting to find delicious yet affordable food but not knowing where to go? Today, we’re introducing a top-rated Black Wagyu yakiniku restaurant—Black Wagyu Q—that scores five stars for both its ambiance and taste.<肉一。

This isn’t just any ordinary yakiniku restaurant—it’s an officially certified Kobe beef vendor recognized by the Kobe Beef Marketing & Distribution Promotion Association. Everyone knows the prestige of Kobe beef in the global meat scene, and this almost mythical beef that’s hard to come by even in Kobe is now available in Osaka. Even better, you can enjoy it right in the must-visit district of Shinsaibashi. Don’t miss your chance to take some Insta-worthy photos!

The branch we visited this time was Black Wagyu Q’s Shinsaibashi location, which is very easy to find. Just exit Daimaru Department Store, walk about three minutes into the alley on your right, and you’ll see its eye-catching storefront. The interior design of Black Wagyu Q is clean and straightforward—the prominent display of “Black Wagyu” and the bold horizontal character spanning the shop sign reflect the owner’s confidence in being No.1. On the right side, the number of seats per floor is clearly indicated.

As soon as you step inside, you’ll notice a trophy awarded by the Kobe Beef Marketing & Distribution Promotion Association prominently displayed—an immediate sign that you can expect top-quality meat.

Fortunately, this time I dined on the newly opened second floor, and the moment I stepped up, I was blown away. It’s nothing like the yakiniku joints I’m used to—spacious like a banquet hall, in fact. What’s more, there are no traditional Japanese yakiniku exhaust hoods overhead, offering an unobstructed view of the outside and fantastic visibility.

The entire second floor is lit with sleek ceiling spotlights. Wooden signs displaying various cuts of meat hang on the wall outside the grill counter, simple yet striking. Unlike the typical noisy yakiniku restaurants, the decor here exudes elegance and sophistication, making you wonder if you’ve stepped into a stylish, minimalist bar.

I was already impressed by the yakiniku spot’s interior design, but there was even more to look forward to as I headed up to the next floor.

As soon as you reach the third floor, you’re greeted by an incredibly atmospheric corridor, which opens up into a bright, open space at the end.

This floor features many private grilling booths, perfect for solo travelers who prefer a bit of solitude. Each booth comes with its own TV, so you can enjoy your favorite show while grilling and sipping on a drink—pure bliss. The best part? Despite being individual rooms, they feel spacious and private without any sense of confinement.

The third floor also has cozy couple seating, placing you closer to your date—with just a plate of yakiniku needed to seal the moment!

And now, the main event: the meat course. While Black Wagyu Q doesn’t offer an all-you-can-eat option, the carefully curated set menus are absolute value for money. This time, I went for Set C plus an additional premium tenderloin steak.

When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised—it was even more generous than expected!

Set C includes premium sirloin, premium belly, inner thigh meat, offal, and the rare lean rump meat that’s hard to come by.

On the right side of the table, you’ll find a variety of dipping sauces, including the restaurant’s signature yakiniku sauce. There are also three types of refined salt: French sun-dried salt, Italian black truffle salt with a unique aroma, and Andes mineral salt—all available for you to use as you like.

The moment the meat hits the grill, you’re greeted with an exciting sizzle and the rich aroma of grilling beef. I couldn’t wait to dig in!

The marbled cross-section is a result of the even fat distribution unique to Black Wagyu. As the fat renders and drips onto the grill, it creates delightful little flames. Surprisingly, despite the fiery grill, there’s zero greasy smell typical of yakiniku joints—you don’t get any smell on your clothes either. The vent holes around the grill draw all the smoke away, which explains why the place never smells oily, even with the grill going strong.

Once both sides are nicely seared, it’s ready to eat. The pink, sakura-like hue inside is visible from the side. Take a bite, and it practically melts in your mouth—you won’t even need your teeth. A wave of happiness washes over you, and you’ll understand why Black Wagyu has captured the hearts of so many diners.

The dipping sauces provided by the restaurant are mild in flavor, fragrant but not overpowering, perfectly complementing the beef and bringing out the natural richness of the meat. Of course, if you’re a salt person, you can choose from several specialty salts. I opted for the Andes mineral salt, which paired beautifully with the tender, crispy-on-the-outside and soft-on-the-inside lean rump meat. I couldn’t help but think—what more could you ask for?

Don’t forget about the offal included in the set, which features liver, small intestines, and something I’d like to highlight: beef tripe.

You may be familiar with beef tripe, but it’s usually something people order in hot pot. I was initially worried about any fishy taste, but grilled beef tripe turned out to be the hidden star—its chewy texture and subtle smokiness opened up a whole new world of flavors. I just couldn’t stop eating!

Good cuisine always strikes the perfect balance. The side dishes in the set were just that—well-balanced in flavor, neither too salty nor too sweet, and essential alongside the main meat courses. I have to mention the pickled vegetables from Black Wagyu Q—they were exceptionally delicious. I only found out after ordering an extra portion that many customers actually take some home after their meal. That’s how popular they are.

The restaurant also offers a “90-minute all-you-can-drink” menu featuring drinks like red wine and plum wine. You can add this to any set. I chose a cup of oolong tea this time—a refreshing and palate-cleansing sip between bites of meat.

And finally, the dessert. This meal kept delivering surprises, and the dessert was the grand finale. A soft, velvety vanilla ice cream made with pure ingredients instantly melted in my mouth, filling me with pure joy. Seeing ice cream definitely awakened the “second stomach” in me as a girl—I finished it all in no time. The quality of the dessert rivaled that of high-end dessert specialty shops.

This time, I had the pleasure of experiencing a feast that excelled in both service and food in a stylish yakiniku spot with a bar-like vibe. I’m sharing it with you all. Don’t worry about language barriers—the staff includes Chinese speakers, and there’s even a thoughtfully designed Chinese menu with photos, making ordering a breeze.

Also, starting in January, the restaurant will accept Alipay and WeChat Pay, so you can enjoy delicious Black Wagyu even if you’re not carrying cash.

You can make a reservation by phone or through the official website. Of course, walk-ins are also welcome, though you might have to wait during peak hours. But trust me, it’s absolutely worth the wait.
