New Industry Opportunities—Indoor Ski Resorts
With the growing popularity of the Winter Olympics, the number of indoor ski resorts across the country iscontinuously increasing.Indoor ski resorts, also known as indoor ski centers, are facilities that use certain artificial technologies for snowmaking and snow preservation to meet public snow activities and entertainment needs. Compared to outdoor ski resorts, indoor ski resorts havesignificant advantages:1. Year-round operation unaffected by climate conditions; 2. Convenient transportation and proximity to major consumer populations. Additionally, due to advantages such as year-round operation, they better cater to social skiers and beginner sport skiers. Although initial construction costs are high, their long-term revenue potential is also considered an advantage. Indoor ski resorts enable more people outside the traditional “skiing circle”—especially urban dwellers—to enjoy the fun of skiing, thus developing into a healthy and fashionable lifestyle.
This edition of APSC has invited Mr. Yi Li, General Manager of the Snow Park at Harbin Sunac and Deputy General Manager of Operations at Harbin Theme Entertainment Company.Mr. Yi Ligraduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK and was a youth football player. He started his career at the Dolomiti Ski Resort in Chongli, which was invested in and built by the Italian Dolomiti Super Ski Group—the first ski resort project in China invested in by a foreign enterprise. In 2015, he officially joined the Wanda Group and was involved in the preparation, opening, and full operational work of the Harbin Wanda Snow Park. He now also oversees the overall operations of the Harbin Theme Park and Movie Park. With thirteen years in the skiing industry, Mr. Yi Li has held various operational roles in ski resorts.

Cross-sector Community Collaboration -- More Choices
Cross-sector Community Collaborationhas always been a focal point for those in the skiing industry. The cross-sector integration of communities is an inevitable outcome as the sports industry reaches a certain stage of development. This edition of APSC will present two case studies—fitness and diving—to share domestic and international business concepts, offering Chinese ski resorts more options for solutions. Taking the diving training market as an example, through cross-sector collaborations with companies such as Ctrip, live-streamed diving certification training has generated massive traffic. Although the types of sports differ, loyal sports fans demonstrate ahigh conversion ratefor various sporting activities.
2019 marks thefifteenth yearof ISPO’s presence in China. Over the past fourteen years, ISPO has grown alongside the Chinese skiing industry, witnessing the proliferation of ski resorts, the innovation and development of snow equipment, and the evolving fashion trends in skiwear and gear, forging ahead together with China’s skiing sector.
