Reporters recently learned at a press conference that the 2012 Chongqing International Marathon and the National Marathon Championship (Olympic Trials) will start at Nanbin Park in Chongqing on March 17 next year.
Following the elevation of the 2011 Chongqing Marathon to a national-level event, the 2012 Chongqing International Marathon has successfully upgraded to an international competition and become the National Marathon Championship as well as the selection race for the London Olympics.
According to the organizing committee, the event is themed "Running by the Mother River, Healthy Chongqing, Everyone Forward." The races include men’s and women’s full marathons, men’s and women’s half marathons, a 9-kilometer race, and a 5-kilometer mini marathon.
In addition, the competition also features two supporting events: the 2012 Chongqing International Marathon Summit Forum and the 2012 Chongqing International Marathon Carnival.
