The 2nd National College Students Outdoor Winter Training Camp, organized by the Mountaineering and Rock Climbing Club of China University of Geosciences (Beijing) (formed in September 2011 through a strong collaboration between the university's mountaineering team and rock climbing team), will hold its opening ceremony on January 11, 2012, at Wanlong Ski Resort. At that time, outdoor groups from 19 universities across various regions of China will undergo ice and snow technical training in preparation for future safe mountaineering.
With the development of mountaineering in China, college students’ participation in this sport has been growing steadily, with more and more university students attempting to venture into plateaus and approach snow-capped mountains. Mountaineering is an art of enduring hardship and also a systematic project. Every climber must be fully prepared before setting out: good physical condition, a clear mind, complete gear, proficient skills, and sufficient endurance. If you want to become a successful mountaineer, and to ensure your safe return to base camp, technical training is essential.
From January 16 to 28, 2011, the Mountaineering and Rock Climbing Club of China University of Geosciences (the university’s mountaineering team) held the first National College Students Outdoor Winter Training Camp, inviting 17 universities from cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan, Jinan, and Tianjin to participate in the training together, which achieved great results. Now, with another excellent season for learning, training, and exchange upon us, and in order to further improve the technical skills of college students who love mountaineering and strengthen their safety awareness, as well as in response to requests from many universities, the Mountaineering and Rock Climbing Club will host the more comprehensive and systematically trained 2nd National College Students Outdoor Winter Training Camp from January 10 to 19, 2012.
The specific schedule of the event is as follows:
