Unfortunately, he slipped and fell down the steps, causing multiple severe bleeding wounds on his head. Luckily, other tourists promptly sought help. The Mutianyu Great Wall rescue team carried Mr. Chen on a stretcher for one kilometer before handing him over to the arriving 120 emergency responders.
“We were all admiring the view when we suddenly heard a loud ‘bang’ behind us. This male tourist had already fallen to the ground, his face covered in blood,” said Ms. Liu, an eyewitness, yesterday. The incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. “That section of the steps is very steep. According to his colleagues, he slipped and rolled down,” she added. Given the urgency of the situation, Ms. Liu and other tourists immediately called 120 and the Great Wall rescue hotline, and stayed by the injured man’s side, talking to him to prevent him from losing consciousness. Eventually, the rescue team arrived and carried the injured tourist down on a stretcher.

He had bleeding at the back of his head and bruising under his left eye.”
