The Zagreb leg of the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup series continued on the 5th, where Austrian athlete Hirscher claimed victory in the men's slalom event and took the lead in the overall World Cup standings.
The 22-year-old Hirscher defeated top contender and Croatian world-class skiing star Kristoffersen with a time of 1 minute, 51.84 seconds that day. This marks Hirscher’s third win of the season. After the race, Kristoffersen commented: “If he keeps this up, he’ll become almost unbeatable.”
German athlete Neureuther took second place in the day’s competition, while Kristoffersen finished third despite the support of his home crowd.
Despite unfavorable weather conditions in Zagreb that day, the event still attracted over 20,000 spectators, including Croatian President Josipović and new Prime Minister Milanović.
