To honor individuals and groups that inspire and encourage people to actively engage in outdoor activities and experience the outdoor lifestyle, the U.S. Outdoor Industry Association Excellence Awards, hosted by adidas Outdoor, announced yesterday (the 5th) the list of winners for the 2012 Excellence Awards, with four recipients in total:
· The North Face − Company
· Erik Weihenmayer − Individual
· National Outdoor Leadership School − Group
· Nantahala Outdoor Center − Company
The North Face pushes the boundaries of innovation and design, proving that outdoor enthusiasts can also drive the spirit of limitless exploration.
Erik Weihenmayer is an accomplished mountaineer, paraglider, and skier. Despite losing his sight at the age of thirteen, he firmly believes that whether disabled or not, one should live life fearlessly and strive to overcome challenges.
The National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) is a non-profit organization that teaches wilderness survival skills and outdoor sports to 200,000 students.
The Nantahala Outdoor Center has been dedicated to inspiring and encouraging people of all ages and backgrounds to venture outdoors and experience nature.
