The 38th edition of the Volta ao Algarve cycling race in Portugal in 2012 attracted not only three-time Tour de France champion Alberto Contador but also a host of top-tier star cyclists, including Bradley Wiggins, Christopher Froome, and Edvald Boasson Hagen from Team Sky.
The Volta ao Algarve will take place from February 15 to 19. This week, the list of participating teams was announced, with ten UCI WorldTour teams set to compete. The lineup includes: AG2R La Mondiale (France), BMC Racing Team, Garmin-Sharp, Lotto-Belisol, Omega Pharma-Quick Step, Rabobank, Team RadioShack-Nissan, Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank, Team Sky, and Vacansoleil-DCM (Netherlands). From the Professional Continental teams, Topsport Vlaanderen, UnitedHealthcare (USA), and a Portuguese continental team will also be on the start line.
