Mr. Adi Dassler, the founder of adidas, was an outdoor running enthusiast. It was precisely because of his passion for this sport that, starting from the 1960s, adidas began creating special shoes for the unique activity of marathon running. A durable outsole crafted for “shock absorption and comfort,” an outsole heel with flexibility to enhance “stability,” and an upper enhanced for “breathability” form the tradition of the adidas Marathon series running shoes.
To offer marathon runners an additional option in footwear, in 1978, adidas launched the Marathon Trainer, a shoe better suited for rougher and more challenging terrains, based on the original marathon running shoes. The Marathon TR 10 inherits the design essence of the 1978 Marathon Trainer, including its silhouette and overall design details, while recombining the materials of the upper and outsole with the latest running technologies. For the midsole, the Marathon TR 10 features adidas’ next-generation Formotion technology, but the outsole places greater emphasis on grip. The high-friction stud design of the 1978 Marathon Trainer’s outsole has been retained, and adiWear high-abrasion-resistant rubber has been used to fully ensure the durability of the shoes throughout the entire marathon. For the upper, the Marathon TR 10 uses sturdy suede leather and mesh nylon materials, ensuring protection for the feet in complex outdoor environments.
In spring 2012, adidas released a new colorway of the Marathon TR 10. The combination of vibrant bright tones and calm dark shades makes these running shoes even more eye-catching and distinctive, adding an extra touch of fun to all-weather trail running challenges.
