Injuries are more formidable than tigers, especially in high-risk sports like snowboarding. Two-time Olympic champion and renowned American snowboarder Scotty Lago can take an early break this season—thanks to his pectoral muscle injury.
Lago sustained an unfortunate injury during last week’s FIS Snowboard World Cup in Switzerland, tearing his pectoral muscle. His management agency, Octagon, confirmed on the 25th that he underwent surgery on the 23rd at a hospital in Colorado, reattaching the torn muscle to his upper arm bone.

The 28-year-old Lago is an optimist and isn’t upset about missing the rest of the season. He even posted photos of himself in a hospital gown on his Facebook page, looking quite spirited. It’s reported that he will also appear on ESPN on the 26th.
Born in Maine, Lago won the gold medal in snowboard cross at the Turin Winter Olympics, where the event made its Olympic debut. Four years later, he successfully defended his title at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
