The "Green Steps" initiative calls on outdoor companies to integrate green practices into their products, policies, and business strategies. Nowadays, more and more companies and customers prefer to engage with environmentally responsible brands, and this is also one way to know which brands are greener. The goal of the initiative is to gradually encourage everyone to adopt more eco-friendly methods. The proceeds from the "Green Steps" initiative will be used to purchase wind energy credits, power the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market with sustainable energy, and support other environmental activities at the Salt Palace Convention Center.

* Paper badges (made from recycled paper and soy-based ink) — saying no to petroleum-based badge materials
* Recycled aisle carpeting — reused at every show
* Exhibitors can order recycled booth carpeting
* Biodegradable tableware — cookware, plates, napkins, cups, sandwich boxes
* Renewable energy — 100% wind energy is used at every show
* Recycling efforts — we recycle everything！ All cardboard brought in by exhibitors and all waste from the show floor is reused
