According to comments on the video, at 21:30 Beijing time on Chinese New Year’s Eve, which was 08:30 in the morning in New York, after communicating with his father and completing a 30-minute warm-up jog, the 4-year-old boy ran into the snow-covered streets of Flushing, New York, wearing only a pair of shorts and sports shoes. The outdoor temperature that early morning was as low as -13°C. At first, the little boy might have been feeling cold, crying a bit as he asked his father for a “hug” while running. But in the end, encouraged by his dad, he bravely did a push-up on the snowy ground before finishing, his body covered in pure white snow.
According to reports, the boy, nicknamed Duo Duo, was born in February 2008. His father, Mr. He, is an entrepreneur from Nanjing. Mr. He said he had waited until the age of 40 to have such a precious son. However, Duo Duo was a premature baby born seven months early and suffered from multiple complications at birth. The doctor noted in the birth report: bleeding in the left ventricle of the brain, low brain protein density, hemangioma, cerebral edema, jaundice, and small brain capacity. The delivering physician told Mr. He that the child was severely deficient by birth and might suffer from cerebral palsy or mental retardation in the future.
