The submission phase for one of the key supporting events of the Xiamen International Marathon — the “China Construction Bank Cup” Marathon Photography Competition — has now concluded. Judging will take place on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2012. As an event that has been held for many consecutive years, the photography competition has produced numerous outstanding works that have captured the beautiful, dynamic, and exciting moments of the Xiamen International Marathon, conveying the healthy and uplifting spirit of the race and touching the hearts of countless marathon enthusiasts. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Xiamen Marathon, and a variety of meaningful events provide rich photographic material. Nearly 300 participants have registered for this edition, submitting close to 3,000 entries — the highest number in recent years. On February 14, 2012, expert judges will evaluate these works and award one Grand Prize winner with a cash prize of 10,000 RMB, two First Prize winners with 3,000 RMB each, three Second Prize winners with 1,500 RMB each, five Third Prize winners with 1,200 RMB each, five Best Creativity Award winners with 800 RMB each, five Best Theme Award winners with 800 RMB each, and several Honorable Mention winners who will receive a commemorative gift. All selected works will be compiled into a beautifully produced photography competition memorial album.
This year, a supporting activity for the photography competition — the “Marathon Star Search” — will also be launched. It will officially begin in early March. The organizers will select 100 portrait photos from past winners of the Marathon Photography Competition and post them online as part of the “Marathon Star Search” campaign. During the event period, they will search for the “Marathon Stars.” If you are one of them, if you know them, or if you’ve seen or photographed someone who isn’t featured in the competition photos, please contact the event organizing committee. Help share your story or theirs with more people, and spread the true spirit of the marathon to a wider audience.
