《Pokémon Go》 Continues to Boom as Restaurants Launch Promotions to Cash In

《Pokémon Go》 continues to boom, with large crowds gathering in parks at night to catch Pokémon, and many businesses have caught on to the potential opportunities brought by the game’s popularity. Numerous establishments are now offering discounts or vouchers to customers who catch Pokémon inside their venues and take photos. So far, three businesses have launched related promotions.

Taipei Marriott Hotel
Taipei Marriott Hotel is offering dining promotions from August 10 to September 10. Customers who dine at “Colorful Harmony” or “Cocoon Poolside Bar” on the day they catch Pokémon either inside or outside the hotel, and show their photos to restaurant staff, can enjoy a main course upgrade at Colorful Harmony buffet and a buy-one-get-one-free deal on selected drinks at Cocoon Poolside Bar.

The Westin Taipei
The Westin Taipei has a Pokémon GO PokéStop “The Westin.” In addition to restocking Poké Balls, players can now also receive a NT$100 voucher for every Pokémon caught—one per Pokémon, with a maximum of NT$500 in discounts (five Pokémon earns five vouchers). Promotion period: From now until August 14. Those who use meal vouchers can still receive the discount vouchers, which are valid for future visits.

Boost Juice Bar
Boost Juice Bars at the Zhongxiao and Eslite Songyan branches will launch the “Catch Pokémon, Get Instant Discounts at Boost” promotion from August 10 to August 16. Customers who catch Pokémon at Boost Juice Bars and check in on Facebook at the respective branch locations will receive a NT$20 discount on a large low-fat smoothie or a refreshing Coolsha, plus the option to add wheatgrass Booster for just NT$10.
