Over the past 26 years, 16 expeditions have attempted to climb an eight-thousand-meter peak in Pakistan during winter, but all summit attempts ended in failure. On February 2, 2011, Simone Moro, Denis Urubko, and Cory Richards achieved the first successful winter ascent. Cory is the only American mountaineer to have successfully summited an eight-thousand-meter peak in winter to date. The journey nearly cost them their lives. Cory carried a small camera to document the endless hardships along the way.
Through Cory’s lens, these raw and authentic images tell their story.

WildWater is a journey into the soul of whitewater, taking us to remote places only accessible by great rivers. It's an adventurous discovery, a feast for the senses, and an expedition of new ideas. We set out to create a brand-new adventure film. Its visuals, sound, and creativity will surpass anything before. We aim to communicate the essence of what we love—wilderness and rapids—and infuse the soul of it into the film. It’s a formidable task. After days and nights of effort around the world and in the studio, we are now producing a full-length film, WildWater, with editing largely complete. To achieve the best results, we’ve utilized Hollywood filmmaking equipment and techniques, including RED digital cameras and high-speed filming. WildWater will not only offer you a fresh sensory perspective but also immerse you in the world of adventure cinema and showcase the boundless allure of canoeing.

Pete McBride grew up on a farm in western Colorado and considers himself a child of the Colorado River. As a National Geographic photojournalist, Pete travels far and wide, discovering and reporting stories from around the world. In 2008, Pete decided to follow the river by his family’s farm to see where it flows and where it ends. What Pete saw and heard along the way is not just a story about the Colorado River, but also a story about a person and his sense of existence in the world.
This is Chasing Water, documenting Pete’s journey of exploration and telling the story of the lifeblood of the American West.
