Recently, Zhang Zhijian, Secretary-General of the National Mountaineering Sports Management Center, concluded after an on-site inspection in our province that Qinghai boasts abundant outdoor resources. Many areas, including the Qinghai Lake region and Qilian County, are ideal for camping and hiking activities, which will greatly promote the already well-established extreme sports scene in Qinghai.

　　For many years, many believed that Qinghai, located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with its high altitude, cold climate, low oxygen levels, and rugged mountains, had a harsh natural environment that was unsuitable for sports. However, in recent years, Qinghai has skillfully turned disadvantages into advantages. By leveraging its unique environment, the province has hosted creative extreme sports events, transforming harsh conditions such as strong winds and freezing temperatures into challenges—and into strengths for outdoor extreme sports. With events like the Ice Trek Across Qinghai Lake, the Sports Adventure at the Source of the Yangtze River, and the Winter Yellow River Crossing Race, our province has drawn attention from many domestic extreme sports enthusiasts.

　　At the same time, to provide training bases and logistical support for those passionate about outdoor extreme sports, our province has established the Qinghai Yuzhu Peak National Mountaineering Training Base and the Jianzha National Water Sports Training Base, which have significantly boosted the development of extreme sports. Nowadays, it’s common to see outdoor extreme sports enthusiasts from other regions, and many extreme sports clubs have emerged locally, with increasing numbers of people taking part in these activities. Undoubtedly, Qinghai has entered a "spring" of extreme sports development.
