Qin Jian) After the new curriculum reform was implemented in high schools across our city, not only have course offerings become more diverse, but classroom teaching has also become more vibrant. On May 5, the outdoor classroom of the elective course “Handsome Youth Training Camp” for first-year students at Bashu Middle School was set up outside, where over 10 students competed in rock climbing on-site to challenge their courage.
The “Handsome Youth Training Camp” course is mainly designed to cultivate masculinity, and has been offered once a week since this semester. “Many male students these days are quite gentle and delicate. We hope that through rock climbing training, we can enhance their courage and perseverance, while also improving their agility and teamwork skills,” Zhang Xuezhong, director of the Curriculum Reform Office at Bashu Middle School, told reporters.
At 9 a.m., 14 students took turns putting on safety gear to try rock climbing. The climbing wall is 12 meters high, and the students scaled to the top one after another. Jiang Jialun, who is 1.71 meters tall, looked very bookish, but he managed to reach the top of the wall in just 30 seconds.
