Recently, media reported that "Siguniang Mountain Dafeng Camp is surrounded by garbage everywhere, a shocking sight—the Dafeng mountaineering camp has become a huge garbage dump." This sparked online controversy. In response, the Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area promptly investigated the situation and dispatched personnel to conduct a concentrated cleanup. Currently, there is no obvious garbage in the camp, and the trash in the locations mentioned in the report has been cleared.
Tang Zhen, deputy director of the marketing department of the Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area Administration, stated that the report about large amounts of garbage at the Dafeng mountaineering camp is true. On the 26th, the scenic area sent personnel to conduct a concentrated cleanup at the Dafeng and Erfeng camps in the rain, and also assigned staff to repair the cabins.
Tang Zhen told reporters that the scenic area deployed 20 people for the concentrated cleanup. Currently, there is no obvious garbage in the camp, and the trash in the locations mentioned in the report has been cleared. However, in some remote crevices near the camp, there are still a small number of oxygen cylinders and gas canisters. Management personnel will further carry out comprehensive treatment of the camp, cabins, and surrounding environment.
Tang Zhen said that investigations revealed the main reasons for the large amount of garbage in the camp are: the camp was previously covered by heavy snow, so garbage cleanup could only be carried out after the snow melted; the scenic area has experienced continuous rainfall recently, which greatly affected the concentrated cleanup efforts; the Dafeng and Erfeng mountaineering camps are at high altitudes and have not had dedicated management since their construction; most hikers did not take their self-generated garbage out of the scenic area; and the outdoor activities management center of the scenic area has a small staff and heavy workload.
The Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area admitted that as outdoor management is a relatively new endeavor, despite having done a lot of work, there are still many shortcomings.
Currently, the scenic area administration is actively exploring long-term management solutions for outdoor activities: First, repairing damaged camp facilities and equipment; second, strengthening the standardized management of outdoor activities in the scenic area, actively formulating management measures for the Sanfeng mountaineering camp, and planning to hire dedicated personnel for regular management; third, increasing publicity efforts to further raise public environmental awareness.

Siguniang Mountain is located at the border between Xiaojin County and Wenchuan County in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province. It consists of four continuous peaks, which are traditionally named Dafeng (Big Peak), Erfeng (Second Peak), Sanfeng (Third Peak), and Yaomei Peak (Youngest Sister Peak) according to legend, and are regarded as sacred mountains by local residents. Among them, Dafeng is considered an entry-level peak for mountaineering and is highly favored by domestic and international climbers, with thousands of hiking enthusiasts visiting every year.
