Slacklining is an independent and highly challenging balance sport, representing a new form of outdoor activity. Experts can not only walk effortlessly on the slackline but also smoothly perform actions such as turning around, sitting cross-legged, jumping, or even "surfing." Currently, very few people in China know about slacklining, and even fewer can actually do it.
To promote slacklining and raise its profile, Dot (Shenzhen) Trading Co., Ltd., Asia Outdoor, and Mafengwo will jointly host the First China Slackline Competition 2012. The event will take place between July 26–29, 2012, at Hall EF of the Asia Outdoor exhibition site. The competition includes slackline races (speed and jump events) and slackline PK contests (challenging individuals to stand on the line for the longest time). In addition, the organizers have specially arranged a Gibbon Freestyle Slacklining Masterclass in Nanjing, inviting training expert Nick Ten Hooper (aka Flying Dutchman) and freestyle master Maurice Wiese (aka Momo) to provide on-site instruction, guidance, and commentary on basic freestyle movements and advanced techniques.
There are limited spots available for the competition: 32 participants for the speed race and 32 for the jump race, with registration closing once these limits are reached. Those interested in participating should sign up as early as possible through the online registration system. Winners will receive a variety of prizes, including cash awards, Dot equipment vouchers, and Dot backpacks.
In addition to enjoying and taking part in the exciting slackline performances, you can also experience a variety of other engaging activities at the 2012 Asia Outdoor exhibition, such as dynamic and fashionable fashion shows, thought-provoking industry forums, the Climbing Triathlon that combines challenge and conquest (including speed climbing, rope climbing, and dry tool ice climbing), as well as difficulty competitions, the popular Banff Mountain Film Festival (on the afternoon of July 28), and an energetic music evening (in the evening of July 28). There will also be creatively designed award-winning products from the Asia Outdoor Industry Awards (displayed at the entrance of Hall D at the exhibition site).
