12 Global Themed Routes: Star Alliance Launches "Round the World" Tickets

Star Alliance has launched a new "Themed Itinerary Round the World Fare," allowing travelers to plan their own global journeys through carefully curated themed routes. There are 12 different themes to choose from, including World Wonders, Architectural Tours, Natural Wonders, and Wine Tasting Tours.

Star Alliance has been offering Round the World tickets for over a decade. This year, based on traveler experiences, it has introduced a new Themed Itinerary Round the World Fare. Passengers can complete booking and ticketing directly via the online system or through the reservation centers of any member airline.

The mileage options for the Round the World Fare include 26,000, 29,000, 34,000, and 39,000 miles (Note: The Earth's circumference is 24,901 miles). Travelers can plan their itineraries based on the selected mileage range, but the origin and destination must be in the same country. In principle, travelers must choose an eastbound or westbound direction and stick to it when planning stopovers, though they may backtrack within the same continent. The entire journey must cross the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans each at least once and include stopovers of at least 24 hours in at least three cities. Depending on the fare option chosen, travelers can visit between 5 to 15 cities. Some economy class fares may have a limit of up to five stopovers.

In addition to mileage options, the Round the World Fare also offers various cabin classes including First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy. Travelers can also select ticket validity periods ranging from six months to one year based on their needs. Generally, the Round the World Fare offers better value compared to purchasing the same itinerary separately with different airlines.
