"When you're writing PPTs, the cod in Alaska are leaping out of the water; when you're looking at reports, the golden monkeys of Meili Snow Mountain are just climbing to the treetops; when you're squeezing into the subway, the Himalayan eagles in Tibet are circling the clouds... Go traveling, walk paths high heels can't reach, breathe air perfumes can't smell, meet people you'd never encounter in office buildings." This popular Weibo quote has already stirred the hidden outdoor spirit in many. Nature has its own "wind, flowers, snow, and moon," and some people are already joyfully traveling on the road.
The snow mountains have the "wind"
The climate on the snowy plateau is unpredictable—one moment the sun is shining brightly, the next a cloud drifts by and it starts to drizzle. Lao Wang and his teammates started hiking from Yunling Township at an altitude of 2,400 meters. Late October is the best season to view Meili Snow Mountain. The crisp, clean air is refreshing. The moment the clouds drift away from the main peak, lucky visitors who catch sight of the Minzhi Peak, Wuguan Peak, and General Peak are left stunned. The village of Yubeng, nestled at the foot of the snow mountain, is almost completely isolated from the world—no roads, no cell service, just breathtaking scenery. It’s practically a paradise on earth. As they walked along, they even discovered a highland lake—Ice Lake—like a crystal-clear jade, surrounded by steep cliffs and snow-capped peaks. Lao Wang said, "Truly magnificent scenery is hard to come by, but to truly enjoy the snowy plateau, you need gear with great insulation!"

The forest hides the "flowers"
The path to Leigongshan Park was full of puddles after the rain, making it a bit tough going for hikers like "Baozi Ge." The mountain trail was rugged, slippery, and unfamiliar. At dawn, stepping on moss and mud, the group slowly made their way toward Qixing Lake following a local’s directions. When they saw the towering peaks, the vast primeval forests that blocked out the sun, the crystal-clear mountain springs in the valleys, and the fragrant blossoms and birdsongs that filled the air, "Baozi Ge" and the others exclaimed, "It’s worth it!" Though everyone’s shoes were completely unrecognizable, covered in a miserable mix of mud and rainwater, their insides remained as comfortable as ever. There’s a saying about Leigong Mountain: "One mountain, four seasons; every hundred meters, a different sky." Just as you feel the vibrant energy of spring, you’re quickly hit with the sweltering humidity of summer, followed by the howling mountain winds and continuous drizzle. Without durable, breathable shoes, you really wouldn’t be able to enjoy such beauty.
Watching the "rain" by the river
The still objects outside the car window changed rapidly as the altitude climbed sharply, and Zhang Yi felt a slight discomfort in his ears. After a month of continuous heavy rain, the Yalu River flowed even more swiftly. Leaning against the car window, Zhang Yi thought back to the meal he had the day before at a farmhouse—drinking mellow aged liquor, eating authentic Yalu River carp, paired with wild black fungus, free-range chicken, and farm-fresh eggs—a feast that surpassed any luxury meal he’d had in the city. Hiking from Yangmulinzi Village on the China-North Korea border to Lianggu Bridge, the six-meter-wide cement path was truly a hiker’s paradise. No crowds, just vast misty waters. If it weren’t for the persistent heavy rain that made the air thick with moisture, they wouldn’t have been able to experience this dreamy, foggy wonderland. "The shimmering light on the water is lovely on a sunny day, the mountain hues and the faint mist are equally enchanting." The river sparkled beautifully under the sun, while the distant mountains were veiled in a delicate haze. A group of ducks floated leisurely on the water, occasionally flapping their wings and splashing into the river, creating ripples. The cool breeze brushed against their faces, and the scent of wild grass filled the air. They arrived at the riverside campsite, where the tents stood quietly by the water. He carefully poured the mineral water into his bottle, quenching his thirst. The taste of the wild water was refreshing and invigorating, instantly washing away the fatigue of the journey. The stars gradually appeared in the night sky, twinkling like diamonds. Under the starlight, the river surface shimmered with a mysterious glow. Everyone sat around the campfire, sharing stories and laughter. The warmth of the fire contrasted with the cool night air, creating a cozy atmosphere.

Exploring the "moon" at midnight
Nighttime hiking is always exhilarating. Exciting, adventurous, and a test of overall ability. During the day, people rely on their eyes to observe, but at night, it’s the opposite. Once your eyes adjust to the dim environment, the improvement in your "night vision" can surprise even yourself. The number of nighttime hiking enthusiasts is growing, and the knowledge surrounding it is being widely and deeply explored. Distinguishing blurred images, identifying different shadows, and paying attention to trail marks are all things nighttime hikers need to be aware of and learn. Moving forward in the darkness with the help of a headlamp or flashlight, staying focused, slowing your pace, and moving steadily make for an exciting adventure into the unknown. The foundation of joyful travel is safety—it’s best to travel light. A versatile pair of outdoor shoes meets all your needs, just like a simple run, without too much weight. Being careful, patient, and having a "light" heart is even more important.
