On November 26, 2012, EZON high-end outdoor sports watches successfully signed contracts with Dang Qi, a legendary figure in China’s triathlon community and a frequent champion in domestic triathlon events, and Zhou Peng, torchbearer for the 2008 Olympic Torch Relay to Mount Everest and winner of the 7th Asian Golden Ice Axe Award. By joining forces with these two outstanding athletes from the triathlon and mountaineering worlds, EZON aims to promote the positive energy of outdoor sports role models and inspire more outdoor enthusiasts to take up the activity. Awards Won
In 2010, for the free ascent of the “Free Soul” route on the southwest ridge of Mount Siguniang’s Yāomǎi Peak in Sichuan with Yan Dongdong in November 2009, he won the Best Climbing Achievement Award at the 4th Golden Rhino Awards; nominations for the Piolet d’Or and the Asia Piolet d’Or; and the Golden Piolet Symbolic Award.
In 2011, for a series of climbs in the northern area of Gongga Mountain in October, he won the 7th Asia Piolet d’Or Award; for the “Free Dance” route on the west face of Ji zi Peak during this climb, he won the 6th Golden Rhino Award for Best Climbing Achievement and was nominated for the Piolet d’Or.
Experience
In 2008, served as a torchbearer for the Olympic Torch Relay to Mount Everest.
From March 2009 to March 2011, served as head of the coaching group in the Training Department of the China Mountaineering Association, responsible for curriculum development, instructional planning, and a large volume of teaching duties. Taught courses including introductory outdoor guide training, rock climbing, ice climbing, and alpine skills.
In 2010, participated in the writing of national vocational skill appraisal textbooks including “Alpine Exploration – National Vocational Skill Appraisal Textbook” and “Ice Climbing – National Vocational Skill Appraisal Textbook,” the former of which has been published.
From the winter of 2011 to 2012, I traveled with Li Shuang and Yan Dongdong by car through Inner Mongolia, Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi, Henan, Shaanxi, and Sichuan to explore China’s ice climbing resources, climbed numerous high-difficulty routes, and shot four short films.
Climbing Experience
Started climbing snow mountains in 2005, with over 30 climbs to date. Before 2008, I was mainly involved in or organizing large-scale mountaineering teams using the Himalayan style. From the end of 2008, I shifted to the Alpine style of climbing, forming the Free Soul climbing duo with Yan Dongdong, and have since advocated and adhered to the Alpine style of climbing, which I will continue to use to tackle unclimbed peaks and new routes in a fast, lightweight, and efficient manner.
The following climbs are those I consider the most proud achievements to date.
In November 2009, Yan Dongdong and I established a new direct route up the south face of Mount Yāomǎi (the fourth peak of the Four Sisters Mountains in Sichuan), for which we were nominated for the Piolet d’Or. In 2010, at the Shanghai World Expo, the Piolet d’Or committee awarded us the Piolet d’Or Commemorative Award. We were also nominated for the 2010 Asian Piolet d’Or.
In July 2011, Yan Dongdong and I ventured deep into the heart of the Western Tianshan Mountains (Xinjiang), trekking over 100 kilometers to reach the Quelebos mountain range, where we successfully climbed an unclimbed peak — Freedom Peak — at an elevation of 5,863 meters (GPS-measured). This was a successful exploration that opened the door to my quest for the unknown, and this was only the beginning... !
In October 2011, Yan Dongdong, Li Shuang, and I completed three new routes in one month on the northern side of the Gongga Mountain range: the north face of Lieduoman'yin (6,112m), the west face of Jiāzǐ Peak (6,540m), and the south face of Little Gongga (5,928m). For this, we were awarded the 2011 Golden Rhino Award for Best Climbing Achievement, as well as the 7th Asian Piolet d’Or.
