From November 30 to December 2, the 2012 National Mountaineering and Outdoor Club Annual Conference, organized by the Mountaineering Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Mountaineering Association, and others, was grandly held in Ninghai, Zhejiang. Nearly 300 participants attended, including representatives from well-known clubs across the country, sub-provincial mountaineering and outdoor sports associations, and representatives from relevant university departments. The outdoor brand KAILAS, as a strategic partner of the Chinese Mountaineering Association for the year, was also invited to attend as a representative of the outdoor industry.

The conference mainly included presentations by the Chinese Mountaineering Association on the 2013 work plan, the selection of the Top Ten National Outdoor Clubs, experience exchanges by pioneering leaders of outstanding national clubs, sharing of best practices from outstanding club projects, award ceremonies for the Top Ten Clubs, outstanding athletes, excellent coaches, and referees, an outdoor forum, and visits to the first China Outdoor Products Expo. The event featured a rich variety of activities. Club representatives from all over the country gathered to not only discuss and share experiences in outdoor development but also to review the achievements of 2012, which was a key topic of the conference.
KAILAS Awarded the Title of “Special Support Unit” by the Chinese Mountaineering Association
Looking back at the series of events throughout 2012, from rock climbing to mountaineering, from professionals to the general public, and from single regional competitions to comprehensive international events, the activities organized by the Chinese Mountaineering Association covered an increasingly wide range of outdoor fields, attracting more and more people to participate. However, the rapid development of outdoor activities in China also faces many constraints, with the most obvious being the lack of professional outdoor talent and training in outdoor skills. In this context, the Chinese Mountaineering Association specially recognized KAILAS. Over the past nearly 10 years, KAILAS has initiated and promoted a series of public welfare training programs, including the “KAILAS Outdoor Coach Development Program,” “KAILAS Rock Skills Training Camp,” “KAILAS Ice Climbing Training Camp,” and “KAILAS Mountaineering and Exploration School.” These initiatives have cultivated a large number of important reserve talents for China’s mountaineering and outdoor sports, including world speed climbing champion Zhong Qixin, who is now one of KAILAS’s eight core climbers.

In addition, the Chinese Mountaineering Association also highlighted KAILAS’s strong support for international mountain outdoor events such as those held in Baise, Taining, Ordos, and Zunyi over the past year, as well as the Asian Cup Rock Climbing Championships. To recognize KAILAS’s full support and active participation in outdoor competitions, the conference awarded KAILAS the honorary title of “Special Support Unit” by the Chinese Mountaineering Association.
At the conference, the Chinese Mountaineering Association stated that to fully implement the “National Fitness Program Outline” and promote the healthy and sustainable development of China’s mountain and outdoor sports, in the coming year, the association will further strengthen cooperation with KAILAS in areas such as outdoor training and mountain outdoor competitions, working together to write a new chapter in China’s mountaineering and outdoor endeavors.
