No need to head to the suburbs to enjoy winter fun. The inaugural Polar Ice and Snow Carnival at Beijing Workers' Stadium has officially opened to the public today. Citizens can enjoy snow activities such as snow tubing and snowmobile rides, and even meet adorable penguins.
The Workers' Stadium Polar Ice and Snow Carnival lasts for two months and offers a range of snowy activities including free snow play, snow tubing, snow disc surfing, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and snow zorbing. There will also be appearances by charming Papua penguins and chinstrap penguins meeting the public. Visitors can get up close with these adorable "polar ambassadors." Within the activity area, a full-scale replica of China’s Antarctic research station Kunlun Station has been set up, telling visitors about the station’s exact location, the harsh environment it’s situated in, and the stories of how researchers conduct deep ice core drilling and geological drilling beneath the ice-covered mountains.
