Eat Koshihikari rice with seafood & Far Eastern Air launches Taipei–Niigata flights in November

Far Eastern Air will launch its Taipei–Niigata route on November 4, operating two weekly early-departure, late-return flights, becoming the only airline in the market offering direct flights to Niigata.

Far Eastern Air stated, "Niigata is Japan, and Japan is Niigata." Located in central Honshu, Japan, Niigata’s shape resembles a miniature map of Japan. The Niigata Plain produces the highest yield of Niigata rice in Japan, with "Koshihikari rice" being particularly well-known to locals. Niigata is home to over 90 sake breweries, and five of Japan’s top 10 popular sakes come from Niigata.

In spring, aside from cherry blossom viewing, Niigata also offers what are said to be Japan’s best tulips. Summer features the Echigo Sanja Fireworks Festivals: “Umi no Kashiwazaki” (Sea of Kashiwazaki), “Kawa no Nagaoka” (River of Nagaoka), and “Yama no Katakai” (Mountain of Katakai). Autumn is ideal for maple leaf viewing, while winter brings numerous ski resorts and famous hot spring destinations such as Myoko Kogen Onsen, Echigo-Yuzawa Onsen, and Tsukigaoka Onsen, along with events like the Hyakuhachi Lantern Festival and Snowfield Carnival Nakazato.

Far Eastern Air noted that it will collaborate with travel agencies to offer 4-day, 3-night itineraries. Additionally, chartered flights to Tottori and Fukushima are scheduled for late October and late November, with hopes of eventually establishing regular flights.
