Many wild animals, disturbed by the presence of wolf packs, have begun venturing out from the mountains toward areas densely populated by humans.     In the first ten days of January, several incidents occurred in Xinjiang where wild wolves attacked and killed sheep. In just a few days, five sheep were killed and 47 were injured, with the number still rising. Due to the particularly cold climate this year and continuous snowy weather, the wolves’ food supply has been disrupted. Unable to find food, the wolves have begun attacking domesticated sheep herds.
    This is a reminder to all hikers: due to the impact of cold air this year, many regions across Xinjiang have experienced consecutive days of snowfall, with particularly heavy snow recently. Many carnivorous wild animals, unable to find food, have started migrating toward areas with higher human activity. Therefore, everyone engaging in outdoor activities in Xinjiang must stay highly vigilant, as potential dangers may exist.
    As these wild animals struggle to find food, they may inevitably move toward areas with denser human populations. Thus, encountering them is unavoidable. Hikers must travel in groups, and at the same time, avoid harming these wild animals. Given the heavy snowfall this year, extra caution is also needed regarding avalanches while hiking, as well as protection against the cold—wear plenty of warm clothing.
