Firefighters' rescue scene
Around 1:30 p.m. yesterday, four teenagers who were visiting the Yangsha Mountain scenic area in Beilun, Ningbo, accidentally slipped near a cliff while hiking and became stranded halfway up the mountain. Due to the slippery conditions caused by the rain, the four teenagers were at risk of falling down the steep cliff at any moment, making the situation extremely critical. The Chunxiao Fire Station in Beilun responded to the emergency call and dispatched a team immediately.
When the firefighters arrived at the walking trail in the Yangsha Mountain scenic area, they noticed that a small path had been trodden through the woods beside the trail. At the end of this path, on the mountainside halfway up the cliff, the four teenagers were sitting. Fortunately, none of them were seriously injured at the time.
After assessing the terrain, the firefighters found that the area near the cliff was quite slippery due to the rain. After discussing with the scenic area management and others, it was ultimately decided to pull the teenagers up. The firefighters secured one end of a rope to a tree, then sent one firefighter down the rope to tie the rope around each of the teenagers before pulling them up one by one. After about ten minutes of rescue efforts, all four were safely brought up.
The four teenagers had come to Yangsha Mountain to spend a few days of their Spring Festival holiday. They had wanted to climb up for a view of the sea, so they left the walking trail and “took a shortcut” into the woods. Unexpectedly, one of them accidentally slipped and ended up halfway down the mountain. The other three companions tried to pull him back up the cliff, but in doing so, all of them slipped and became trapped. With the steep cliff offering no way out, they had no choice but to call 119.
