On March 24, the two-day 2013 Ningbo Beilun National Mountain Outdoor Sports Challenge came to a successful close. The Kolumb outdoor team, led by captain Lu Zhenghu and team member Yersen Shiwogen, won first place in the men's doubles category with a cumulative time of 6:25:44.
The challenge was divided into men's doubles and mixed gender categories, with 30 teams from regions such as Nanjing, Beijing, Heilongjiang, and Zunyi participating. The event spanned two days and included five disciplines: mountain biking, cross-country running, kayaking, orienteering, and water-based orienteering, covering a total distance of approximately 80 kilometers. Teams were required to complete the day’s course within the allotted time, with final rankings determined by cumulative times over the two days.
Over the two days, competing teams battled fiercely in events such as kayaking, orienteering, cross-country running, and mountain biking. In the end, after totaling their times from both days, the Kolumb outdoor team secured first place in the men's doubles category with a cumulative time of 6:25:44. The Kolumb outdoor team, which had maintained a commanding lead from the first day, was undoubtedly at a professional level. “Previous competitions we’ve joined had longer courses—today’s wasn’t too tough,” said Yersen Shiwogen, a Kolumb outdoor team member, his face covered in mud after completing the race. Meanwhile, the first place in the mixed gender category went to Beijing Feidis Sports Development Co., Ltd.
Despite continuous rain over the two days, and heavy downpours the previous day, all participants embraced the joys and challenges of heading outdoors, connecting with nature, and pushing their limits. Kolumb outdoor gear also provided strong functional protection and support to the athletes, contributing to their championship success.
