  Yesterday morning, the Xi'an leg of the 2013 National 10K Road Race Series was grandly held at the Qujiang Pool Heritage Park, with nearly 5,000 middle- and long-distance running enthusiasts from six provinces and cities competing by the Qujiang Pool.
  This national road race series is approved by the Chinese Athletics Association and is a nationwide outdoor long-distance running event established for middle- and long-distance running enthusiasts across the country. The event combines professionalism with mass participation. On one hand, it calls on sports enthusiasts from all walks of life to actively participate, enhancing the event’s influence and public engagement; on the other hand, it invites numerous professional athletes and training teams to take part, raising the event’s professional standards and competitive level. From April to September this year, the races will be held successively in eight major cities: Shenzhen, Xi'an, Shanghai, Nanjing, Qingdao, Changchun, Chengdu, and Wuhan.
  The Xi'an leg featured six categories: men’s and women’s professional 10K, men’s and women’s open 10K, and men’s and women’s open 5K. Reporters at the scene observed that the race attracted participants ranging from a 70-year-old senior to children as young as four or five, all eager to pursue a healthy and joyful lifestyle through this running event.
