Preliminary Selection Site
The first leg of the Extreme Journey, the Most Rugged Expedition, was successfully concluded under the leadership of Wang Jing, a renowned Chinese mountaineer. Mentor Wang Jing led Gao Fei from Liaoning and Song Qiang from Beijing on a mission to the southern slope of Mount Everest to search for brave pathfinders, while also collecting water from Everest’s “Source of Life” to serve as the “baton” for the second leg of the Extreme Spirit Journey. The guide for the second leg, Shen Liangzhong, is a globally renowned scientist and co-founder of the well-known NGO “Earthwatch Institute.” This time, Mr. Shen Liangzhong will once again team up with pathfinders to venture into the Extreme Spirit Destination—Baima Snow Mountain—to conduct field research for the protection of Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys, seek inspiration from biomimicry, explore ecological mysteries, pave the way for biodiversity conservation in China, and search for the brave spirit that stays true to its mission.
The "Search for Pathfinders Around Us" campaign has been successfully held twice since 2011. This year’s theme, "Brave to Live," focuses on finding ordinary people who have bravely lived out their ideals. This edition differs significantly from the previous two in terms of competition format, participant selection, and scale. In addition to emphasizing physical fitness and outdoor experience, this year’s selection process places greater importance on finding pathfinders with courageous hearts. It aims to inspire more people to forge their own life paths through the participants’ past experiences and their unwavering spirit in the pursuit of dreams.
