Speech by Mr. Chen Jianli of Wanda Cultural Industry Group
The "1st Wanda Changbai Mountain International Trail Running Challenge" will officially commence on June 29, 2013, at the Wanda Changbai Mountain International Resort. On May 25, 2013, the press conference for this trail running event was grandly held at the Beijing International Convention Center. Representatives from Wanda Cultural Industry Group, Wanda Changbai Mountain International Resort Management Company, as well as renowned trail runners such as Yun Yanqiao and Xing Ruling, attended the event.
This event is organized by Wanda Changbai Mountain International Resort Management Company, featuring two categories: 50 kilometers and 30 kilometers. The entire course will take place within the resort, making it the first large-scale international trail running event held in a mountain resort in China. The race will start from the Shaman Square in front of the Changbai Mountain Grand Theater, covering various terrains including asphalt roads, forest trails, lakesides, golf courses, ski slopes, and continuous uphill mountain sections, all with stunning views of Changbai Mountain. The course will traverse the main mountainous areas of the Wanda Changbai Mountain International Resort, with the 50-kilometer route accumulating 2,600 meters of elevation gain and the 30-kilometer route 1,800 meters. Numerous elite domestic and international runners, along with over 300 trail running enthusiasts from across the country, are expected to gather here, promising an exciting wave of competitive trail running.
The race course is uniquely designed. Runners will pass through the Songgu Golf Course lawn, weave through lush pine and birch forests, circle the serene blue Fokulun Lake, climb over staggered thousand-meter peaks, and experience the distinctive international charm of the resort town before reaching the finish line with a clear view of Changbai Mountain’s summit. Here, the snow-covered ski slopes of winter transform into flower-filled, grassy forest paths in summer; the thrill and speed of skiing in winter gives way to leisurely strolls amidst green mountains and clear waters in summer. The perfect blend of resort life and outdoor sports is truly captivating. Completing the race is not only a new challenge for athletes but also a journey of reconnecting with nature and embracing one's true self. Surrounded by the resort, the dense primeval forests release abundant negative ions, allowing participants to breathe in the long-missed fresh air and enjoy the exhilaration of running.
As a world-class mountain resort destination, the Wanda Changbai Mountain International Resort, adjacent to the western slope of Changbai Mountain, has been committed to promoting a concept of natural and healthy living since its opening. The resort will make comprehensive preparations for event services in accordance with international competition standards, providing top-notch services and facilities to welcome elite trail runners from around the world, striving to create a high-level international trail running event.
In addition, renowned American trail running shoe brand VASQUE and outdoor apparel brand OUTDOOR RESEARCH (OR) have provided professional footwear and clothing support for the event. A number of well-known media outlets from across the country will also offer full coverage of the race. The 1st Wanda Changbai Mountain International Trail Running Challenge is about to begin—passionate trail running, deep breath of nature—let’s look forward to June 29th!
With the official launch of the Beijing press conference for the "1st Wanda Changbai Mountain International Trail Running Challenge," information sessions for the event will also be held successively in six other cities including Changchun, Jilin, and Shanghai. The event is sure to attract the attention of trail running enthusiasts nationwide, sparking a wave of enthusiasm for trail running across the country.
